DAT refused technology

DAT (Digital Audio Tape) was introduced in 1987. This was a small audio tape with high quality recording capability and was meant to replace standard audio tapes. It was far better than cassettes and was more durable and portable. Still the music industry did not accept this because they thought that with DAT it would be easy for piracy. So we lost this technology. Later MP3 was invented; music industry accepted it and made piracy easier.  Well done music industry.
