Luckiest killer ever

[Disturbing contents] Truth is stranger than fiction. A Japanese man named Issei Sagawa, killed a woman in France, had sex with the dead body and then ate her flesh. Now he is living a free  (not in jail) and become a sort of celebrity in Japan!

Sagawa was born (1949) in a rich family in Japan. He was always unhealthy and was small in size. He was less than 5 feet tall when an adult. In 1977 at the age of 28, he moved to France to study literature  in Sorbonne Academy, Paris
On June 11, 1981 he invited his female classmate RenĂ©e Hartevelt, a 32 years old Dutch woman to have dinner and study together at his house. There he killed the woman with a gun and then had sex with the dead body. Then went out to buy a butchers' knife and cut her dead body into pieces. He put some part of the body in fridge and eat her flesh for the next 2 days. After this, when he attempted to disposed the some parts of the dead body into a river, he was seen by people and it was reported to police. Police found some other remaining body part of the unlucky woman in Sagawa’s fridge and arrested him.

Sagawa later said that he always wanted to have better health and physical look and that is why he killed the healthy and beautiful woman and eat her. He said the meat was soft and odorless like tuna fish.

He was in France jail for two years before trial. His wealthy father hired the best lawyers. In the court, the judge found Sagawa mentally sick and ordered to send him to mental institution. In mental institution, he was visited by the journalists and there was news about him in the magazine which was making him celebrity. The France authority did not want a criminal like him to become celebrity and so send him back to Japan.

In Japan he was again in a mental institution where he was found "not mentally sick".  Japan government could not take any legal action against Sagawa because he committed the crime outside Japan and also the France government refused to release court documents to Japan. So they have to set Sagawa free on 12th August 1986. Now, he is a free man now in Japan.
